In Lyon, RS.D has been designing and creating bespoke wellness spaces since 1987. Our difference: an in-house design office that masters both the aesthetics of premium materials and the technical demands of heat, humidity and waterproofing. Bespoke steam room
The steam room (hammam) is an art of steam. Soft, humid heat, warm benches, sensual mosaic: in Lyon we compose a bespoke steam room that is both enveloping and technically flawless.
Steam & waterproofing
A steam generator sized to the volume, complete waterproofing of the walls and of the sloped ceiling to drain the condensation: this is the invisible foundation of a durable and healthy steam room.
Heated benches
Seated and reclining, the benches are masonry-built and then heated for constant comfort. We design the levels, the supports and the ergonomics according to your build and your use.
Mosaic & materials
Glass paste, zellige, marble or tadelakt: the mosaic dresses the curves and captures the light. Each steam room becomes a unique piece, in your image and that of your Lyon interior.
Sauna
heat & wood
The sauna is the nobility of wood and the purity of dry heat. Nordic spruce, hemlock or cedar: we select healthy and durable species, then integrate the cabin into the architecture of your bathroom, in a niche or as a free-standing volume.
Infrared or traditional? Infrared warms the body gently, with a rapid temperature rise and controlled consumption. The traditional stove sauna offers the authentic experience of dry heat and löyly. We guide you towards the most fitting solution.
Balneotherapy &
sensory shower
Balneotherapy turns the bath into a treatment: hydromassage jets, air bubbles and chromotherapy soothe body and mind. We work with leading brands, including Effe, for reliable and silent equipment.
The sensory shower orchestrates water, light and fragrance: tropical rain, mist, waterfall and chromotherapy follow one another through personalised programmes. A complete ritual, from an invigorating wake-up to evening relaxation, at the heart of your Lyon bathroom.
Technical constraints mastered
A successful wellness space is not seen: it is felt. Behind each steam room and each sauna, our design office manages demanding technical areas, the guarantee of comfort and longevity.
Ventilation
A properly sized mechanical ventilation system removes moisture and renews the air: it protects the structure, preserves the materials and guarantees a healthy wellness space, free of condensation and mould.
Waterproofing
A continuous membrane under the tiling, treatment of critical points and a controlled slope: waterproofing, compliant with technical standards, durably shields the building from water and steam.
Electrics
In wet areas, the electrical installation meets the NF C 15-100 standard: protection zones, suitable equipment and a dedicated supply for generators, stoves and balneotherapy systems.

What is the difference between a steam room and a sauna?
A steam room (hammam) delivers a soft, humid heat (around 45 °C, with a high humidity level) carried by steam: an enveloping atmosphere, ideal for the skin and for relaxation. A sauna, on the other hand, offers a dry and more intense heat (70 to 90 °C) inside a wooden cabin. Two complementary wellness rituals, which we design bespoke to suit your wishes and your space in Lyon.
Can a spa or a steam room be installed in an apartment?
Yes, provided the building's constraints are anticipated: floor loads, drainage, ventilation and electrical supply. Our design office carries out a precise survey and a 3D design to validate the integration of a spa, a steam room or a balneotherapy bath into your Lyon apartment, respecting the building's structure and acoustics.
What technical constraints apply to a wellness space?
